erest of Stanley's and he enjoyed making bluebird houses. He had been an avid bowler and after an eye injury and right eye surgery in 1958 he was still able to win bowling events. He also enjoyed family gatherings and liked keeping in touch with the adventures of his 10 great-grandchildren. Stanley was known for storytelling and anytime he met a friend, he had a story or two to tell. Stanley is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lina Hale of Monmouth, IA; children, Karen (Bill) Alday of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Allan (Kay) Hale of Ely, IA; 5 grandchildren, Stacy (Stephen) Duffy, Ryan Alday, Kristen Hale, Amanda (Nic) Chase, all of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jennifer (John) Buresh of Ely, IA; 10 great-grandchildren, Brenan, Quin, Ethan and Madelyn Duffy, Dillon and Drake Brunscheen, Bryce and Braden Buresh and twins, Keelen and Colin Hale. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Merlin, and two sisters, Eleanor Mizaur and Eloise Luett. A Stanley L. Hale memorial fund has been established.
