tor for Jerome Center. She was a staple in the community, initiating programs for seniors, mentoring youth, and even became a council board member for the City of Santa Ana. Margaret was an active member of the church and raised her sons with the foundations taught to her by her Christian parents. She relocated to San Diego, California in 1989 and became a member of the 38th St. Church of Christ where she was a civil service worker for the City of San Diego for thirteen years. In the year 2000 tragedy hit when her youngest son, Maleeke, passed away. This was a great loss to family and friends, but more importantly to a mother who shared a strong bond with her son. Margaret Lawson was always loving, encouraging and nurturing to many of her sons friends and was known to many as Momma Lawson. She continued in faith and persevered during rough times and earned a License as a Vocational Nurse. Later, she returned to work for the San Diego School District as a teachers aide and eventually retired at the age of 67. Her love for art and fashion became a passion and hobby, and her infectious smile and grace was felt by all. Margaret D. Lawson departed this life on Sunday April 23, 2017 after fighting complications from COPD. She was preceded in death by father and mother James and Nazree Deloach and loving son Maleeke Lawson. She leaves to cherish her memories her son Gaboi Lawson, sister Gerry Lyn, sister Edith Deloach, brother J.C. Deloach, brother J.D. Deloach, grandson Devon Lawson and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other loving relatives and friends.
