Catherine Barbara "Kay" Mazza Gargarella, 92, of Westover, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Thursday morning, December 22, 2016.She was born March 29, 1924 in Washington, PA, a daughter of the late Antonio and Lucia Piccolo Mazza.Survivors include her two children, Paul Gargarella and his wife Jude of Morgantown, and Guy Gargarella and his wife Diann of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren, Angela Gargarella Bartlett and her husband Jason, Paul Gargarella, II and his wife Jeanna, Gabriel Gargarella, Elisa Gargarella, Gina Gargarella Downs and her husband Gianni, Maria Witt and her husband Jason, and Mark Conrad and his wife Melissa, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Matyuf and Mary Encandella both of Houston, PA; her son-in-law, Patrick Conrad of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Joseph Gargarella in 1989; a daughter, Frances Gargarella Conrad in 2004, and several brothers and sisters.Kay was a devout and faithful Catholic woman who was involved in many prayer groups, and held several prayer groups in her home. She served on the Board of Directors of Christian Help, Inc.Kay dearly loved her family and friends, and will be very sadly missed by all who knew her.Friends may join the family to honor Kay's life and legacy at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown on Monday, December 26th from 12 Noon until 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday, December 27th from 9:30 AM until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant.
