Joshua Jay Washburn

Joshua Jay Washburn of Buda, Texas died unexpectedly on July 1, 2020 at the age of 35. Josh was born May 28, 1985 to James Jay and Gloria Jean Washburn in Austin, Texas. Growing up in Buda, Josh played in youth soccer league and was a highly adventurous young man. He graduated from Hays Academy in 2003 and Austin Community College Culinary Arts Program in 2009. He loved spending time with his grandparents, Homer and Violet Warren in Deer Park, Texas and Sherman and Marthell Washburn of Junction City, Kansas. Josh blended his culinary skills with his passion for nature by working two summers in Glacier National Park in Montana in 2012-2013. He worked in a lodge restaurant and spent his off hours hiking, climbing and exploring the mountains with friends he made from around the world. Josh worked in many roles in the catering and restaurant industry in the Austin area. Josh cooked with creativity and excellence as a profession, and as an act of love for family and friends. on to his parents, Jim and Gloria Washburn, Josh is survived by siblings Rachel Seitzer and her husband Matthew, Rebecca Washburn, Jake Washburn and his wife Tammy, and Joy Cannon and her husband Brett. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Allison and Zachary Seitzer, Philip Bunton and Lucy and Eleanor Washburn.
