Mason L. McDowell, 21, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Sunday, October 23, 2016, at the emergency room of the Henry County Health Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, from 12:00 - 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. that evening. Mr. McDowell's body will be cremated following the visitation. There will be no service at this time. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to Mason's family. On line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com Born July 1, 1995, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Mason Lucas was the son of Kenneth Ray and Tracy Renee Heckenberg McDowell. He was a 2014 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School. Mason worked at ContiTech following graduation, was a forklift driver at Heatilator, drove a Budweiser truck making deliveries throughout southeast Iowa, and most recently was a technician working in the pit at Exxon Mobil. Along with his parents, Kenny (Jill) McDowell of Wayland, IA, and Tracy (Lonnie Staats) Hotop of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Mason is survived by two sisters, Samantha McDowell and Alli McDowell, both of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Ethel McDowell of Lockridge, IA; his maternal grandmother, Marla Hitchcock of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a niece, Emilirose McDowell; and two nephews, Xander McDowell and Chayton St. John. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles and ten step-nieces and step-nephews. Mason was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David Heckenberg.
