ly and friends. Mason loved to make people laugh and was supportive to those he cared about. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and scrapping metal. Along with his parents, Kenny (Jill) McDowell of Wayland, IA, and Tracy (Lonnie Staats) Hotop of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Mason is survived by two sisters, Samantha McDowell and Alli McDowell, both of Mt. Pleasant, IA; his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Ethel McDowell of Lockridge, IA; his maternal grandmother, Marla Hitchcock of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a niece, Emilirose McDowell; and two nephews, Xander McDowell and Chayton St. John. He is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles and ten step-nieces and step-nephews. Mason was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David Heckenberg.
