Catherine J. Cass Gibson, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, at her home in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel. Family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Josh Cody, officiating. Pleasant, IA, Catherine Jane Gibson was the daughter of James and Miriam (Cathey) Pobanz. She was a 1967 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. She married James R. Anderson. They were later divorced. She married David Gibson in Mt. Pleasant on September 6, 1985. He preceded her in death in 2005. or which she was a state volunteer. Her passion in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved to spend time with. Surviving Cass are two sons, Mike (Shelley) Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Tom (Molly) Anderson of Gretna, NE; three step-sons, Brian Gibson of Ankeny, IA, Greg Gibson of Danville, IA, and Steve (Chris) Gibson of Iowa City, IA, one step-daughter, Julie Decker of Ankeny, IA; a special friend, Bob Svidal of Mt. Pleasant, IA; one brother, Brian (Karen) Pobanz of Wayne, New Jersey; three sisters, Carolyn Westbrooks of St. Louis, MO, Fran Warth of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Cindy Headley of Coos Bay, OR; one half-sister, Candace (Kevin) McGuire of Bradenton, FL; six grandchildren, Avri, Alyvia, Parker, Chloe, Malia, Addisyn; and five step-grandchildren. Cass was preceded in death by her parents and husband David Gibson.
