Joan Y. Hall
Joan Yvonne Hall, 84, of Rochester, MN, passed away on July 4, 2020 at Mayo Clinic-St. Mary's Campus in Rochester. She was born July 28, 1935 in Center Township, Winnebago County, Iowa to Vernon and Bernice (Swenson) Peterson. Joan was the third born daughter out of four and shared many stories of what is was like growing up on the farm and being the only daughter who enjoyed being the helping hand with the farming chores. She graduated from Lake Mills High school. On August 12, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart Ronald E. Hall from Emmons MN. Joan was extremely dedicated to her family. As Ronald served in the Marines for four years and then pursued a college education in Mankato MN. post military Joan was very busy supporting the family working outside of the home as well as taking care of the children. They moved to Rochester MN. Whereby she later became employed by the Rochester Police Record Department and later moved into a secretarial position for the Olmsted County Sheriff until her retirement in 2001. ng , baking, gardening ,dancing, going to auctions and celebrating her favorite holiday of Christmas with all the Norwegian traditions. She is survived by her daughter Julie (Charles) McCoy of Rochester, a son Daniel (Stacy Blackstad) Hall of Eden Prairie, MN. a son Michael Hall of Austin MN.; and a sister Verna Helgeson of Lake Mills Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sister's Delores Porter and Mary Dakken. A family memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on July 24, 2020 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, in Preston MN. Due to COVID there will be no visitation.
