Carol Lorraine Gaither

Carol Lorraine Gaither, daughter of Alice Gaither and the late Thomas Gaither, was born on December 27, 1947 in Mocksville, North Carolina and was called home to be with her Lord on June 28, 2012 following an extended illness. Carol attended the public schools of Davie County; following her graduation from Central Davie High School in 1966, she attended North Carolina Central University and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Later she attended Essex Community College in East Orange, New Jersey to further her business acumen. Carol maintained a managerial position during her twenty-three years with AT based in New Jersey. Expanding her interest in business, Carol opened a soul food restaurant, called, "Around the Corner," while living in East Orange. In addition to management responsibilities Carol enjoyed the hands-on aspects of catering as well. Carol found a way to balance the demands of work and life's blessings. After retiring from AT Carol returned to her native home and was involved with the American Cancer Society and other community activities until debilitated by her illness. Carol was a member of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church throughout her life. She had a courageous spirit and faced life's challenges with an unyielding faith. Although we will definitely miss her we know without a doubt that she is in a better place. Carol leaves to mourn her passing, her mother, Alice Gaither; five brothers, Gordon, Reginald, Victor, Michael, and Julian Gaither; three sisters, Doris Gaither Jimerson, Deborah Gaither Ellis, and Thomasine Gaither; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
