Mocksville John Henry Grant, was born on June 6, 1938 in Davie County. He acquired his heavenly wings on Monday, February 20, 2017. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Mozella Doulin Grant; four brothers, Robert Neely, George Neely, and Ernest Neely and Fred Grant; one sister, Georganna Neely; and Darrel Steele, a "son," he helped raise. Henry worked for Davie County Hospital for over fifty years in various positions, and, believe it or not, once helped with the delivery of a child while on duty. Henry was a faithful member of Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee, Outreach Committee, Usher Board, and Trustee Board, and he also served as an Elder of the church. Henry owned a "licensed" car detailing business; Lord only knows where that license came from. Henry was a Jack of all trades and was well loved by many. The doctor was always in, which meant Henry saw a lot of patients in his car port; from psychiatry to medical to veterinary services, he never turned anyone away, and everyone always walked away with a bright prognosis. Anyone who knew Henry knew not to bother him when any court shows or political debates were televised. If you ever needed a friend, someone to laugh and talk with, someone to clown around with, someone to wash your car, or just sit and watch the cars drive by, Henry was the one to come to. Henry leaves to cherish his memory his wife of fifty-seven years, Ernestine Laverne Carter Grant, of the home; five children, Russell (Melanie) Grant of Charlotte, NC, Telesia DuBose of Lewisville NC, Sherri (Rick) Jefferies of Mocksville NC, Meshelle Keys of Millersville, MD, and Johna (Noah) Wiseman of Mocksville NC; four grandchildren, Jessica Grant, Bianca Grant, Jasmine Grant and Johnathan Wiseman; one great-grandchild, Aubrey Grant; one brother-in-law, Richard (Faye) Carter, two sisters-in-law, Anne Grant and Lillian Neely; Lee Cain, a "son" he helped raise; adopted daughter, Sandra Chapman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
