Billy Herman Carson

Billy Herman Carson, age 79, died at his residence on August 17, 2019 following a period of declining health. He was born in our Iredell County, son of the late Crayton and Lolean Cockerham Carson. Following graduation from Davie County Training School in 1958, he entered the United States Army, from which he received an honorable discharge. On July 5, 1963 he was married to Barbara Jean Gaither, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Billy loved to watch Western movies, collect cowboy boots, and he took pride in being an excellent marksman. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Carson of the home; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Coleen C. Gaither and Dorothylean C. Sherrill; four aunts, Jessie Hayes, Shirley Smith, Neelie Levy, and Josephine Dalton; one uncle, Thad Carson; other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, at 12:00 PM at Graham Funeral Home. Bro. Denon Hogue will officiate and burial will follow at 2:00 PM in National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
