John M. "Mike" Mitchener

John M. Mike Mitchener, 63 of Marion, Indiana died on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Marion General Hospital. Born Wednesday, November 7, 1951 in Hartford City, Indiana, he was the son of the late Delbert Mitchener and the late Betty L. Higgins Mitchener. Mike graduated from Madison Grant High School in 1971. He worked at several factories in Grant County including Owen-Illinois, Bell Fiber, and Nova Packaging. He was currently employed by Creative Dining Services at Taylor University where he had worked for the last 5 years and enjoyed farming with Kenny Harrold. Mike was a former Fire Chief and Fairmount Volunteer Fire Fighter. He loved camping at Sports Lake and traveling, especially to Tennessee and NASCAR races in Bristol, Michigan and Indianapolis. The grandchildren were the light of his life. He enjoyed attending their sporting events, taking them camping and most of all spoiling them. Mike married Cindy L.(Fox) Mitchener. She preceded him in death in 2007. Mike and Penny Milholland Mitchener were married on November 23, 2011. There will be a gathering of Family and Friendsfrom 3-7 PM on Sunday October 25, 2015 at the Family Farm located at 2461 S. 400 E. Marion, Indiana 46953. Graveside Service will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana with Pastor Larry Mealy officiating.
