Joyce Ellen Dhams, 88, of Gladbrook, IA, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020, at Westbrook Acres of Gladbrook. Combined Graveside Services for Joyce and Roland will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2020 at Badger Hill Cemetery in rural Gladbrook. Arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Funeral homes in Gladbrook. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com Joyce was Born November 13, 1931, in Marshalltown, IA to Earl and Leta (Allard) Stauffer. She married her high school sweetheart Roland Dahms in August of 1950. She enjoyed working with her best friend Joyce Jindrich as a telephone operator, she then worked many years as the local librarian and later went on to become a certified nursing assistant providing care at Westbrook Acres. Joyce was a lifelong active member of the Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith. One of her favorite verses was Romans 8:38-39. our Lord. Joyce loved playing cribbage with friends, traveling to visit family, reading books, playing the piano, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. From being a music mother who worked concessions to being a Brownie leader and going to day camp; playing piano at church and leading bible study at the nursing home and ladies groups, she led by example with love and purpose. Joyce is survived by her three children; Kenneth (Betty) Dahms of Gladbrook, IA, Kirk Dahms of Gladbrook, IA, Jayne (David) Heath of Alexandria, LA; four grandchildren: Molly Dahms, Abby Dahms, Riley Dahms, Allison Heath; five great-grandchildren: Danyelle Foos, Jakob Foos, Drake, Jasmin, and Tylin Tervin; three great-great grandchildren; Elijah Barnes and Kinsley Hoffert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; two sisters, Melissa and Mary. The family would like to thank the staff at Westbrook Acres and Greg Randolph for the wonderful care Joyce received while residing there.
