ROSE BOYKO, 95, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday evening, August 24, 2020. Her home was in Sun City Arizona. She was born Efrozyna Kalayda on October 12, 1924, in the city of Kremenchuk, in the Poltava Region of Ukraine to Fedir and Akulina Kalayda. After World War II, she escaped with her parents from the communists to the American zone of Germany where they spent five years in a displaced person camp awaiting sponsorship to the free world. Upon arriving in the U.S.A. she met and married Oleksiy (Alex) Boyko he husband of 54 years who preceded her in death May of 2004. She lived most of her life in Chicago Illinois as a factory employee and later as a quality control inspector for an electronics corporation. She was a hardworking benefactor and participant of the Ukrainian American community, especially in ODUM and church. Upon retirement at age 70, she and her husband moved to Sun City, AZ to be near their family where she continued participation in the Ukrainian community. natural healing. She subscribed to all sorts of health journals and was always ready to help us with advice. She loved ordering things from catalogs which came in handy after her mobility was limited. She loved to garden. But most of all she loved her family. She is survived by her only child, Peter and his wife Christine, two grandsons and their families: Timish and Allison, great-grandchildren Chrystia and Alexy, grandson Marko and Chang, great-granddaughter Aspen; her godchild, Natalie Konowal, nieces and nephews Andriy, Olena, Alisa, and Andriy Kalayda; her sister in law Vera Kolomitchuk, nieces Ludmila and Halyna and other extended family in Ukraine.
