Joan Mary McSherry

The world lost a bright light, Tuesday, September 22, 2020, when Joan Mary McSherry took her leave of this earth to enter the gates of heaven. An only child born during the Great Depression, her goal from a young age was to marry and have a big family to love and share her life with. That objective was achieved when she met the love of her life, John Patrick McSherry, who became her husband in 1952, and they remained inseparable for 68 years. Joan dedicated herself to passing along to her seven children and eleven grandchildren qualities she deemed most important - personal discipline, family traditions, a love of reading, an open door welcome to everyone, sensitivity to the needs of others and a big heart for sharing and giving. In addition to her husband John, she is survived by children Karleen, Jay, Brian, Mary, Teresa, Ann and Ceil; her grandchildren Chrissy, Jessica, Meredith, Matthew, Therese, Meghan, Juliet, Liam, Declan, Katie and Claire; and great-grandchildren Harper, Hudson, Hunter, Zara, Maya, Bennet and Keira.
