Roger Eugene Harris

Roger Eugene, son of William and Georgina (Phinney) Harris was born on January 11, 1931 at Paris Township near Cresco, Iowa. He attended country school and Cresco High School. On April 8, 1948, Roger enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Coco Solo Canal Zone during the Korean War and was discharged in 1953. On May 26, 1956 Roger was united in marriage with Angeline Marie Bouska in Waterloo, Iowa. The family made their home in Prior Lake, Minnesota, where Roger worked as a mechanical engineer and technical writer for Continental Machines until his retirement in 1993. In 1997 Roger and Angeline moved to Carroll, Iowa. Roger is a life member of the V.F.W., American Legion and D.A.V. He was a volunteer for St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and in his spare time he enjoyed traveling to 32 different countries, woodworking, bird watching, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. After many years of battling pulmonary fibrosis, Roger passed away at his home in Carroll on January 13, 2011 at the age of 80 years and 2 days.
