Interment

Willow Township Cemetery, North of Bayard, Iowa

David Wayne, son of Gerald and Martha (Watkins) Wolf, was born October 3, 1968, at Greene County Hospital in Jefferson, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm north of Bayard. David attended school at Bayard and then with Coon Rapids-Bayard; he was the last graduate of the Bayard school district in 1987. David loved sports in high school and played football, baseball and broke records in track.

David attended Iowa Lakes Community College and studied agriculture because he wanted to farm. He then returned home and farmed with his dad. David also served as a Willow Township Trustee and as sexton at Willow Township Cemetery.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, David passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home near Bayard, Iowa. He was 50 years, 7 months and 19 days of age.

David played slow pitch softball and loved to golf. He was an avid reader, especially Steven King novels. Time with family was a priority to David. He enjoyed fishing vacations in Minnesota, playing pinochle, cribbage and poker. The children loved David; he was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews and was known as Uncle Wolfie to more than just family. During his early years, David developed a strong love for the Pittsburgh Steelers and was blessed with being able to attend two Steelers games and see the Pittsburgh Penguins play. David had a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and attended the Sturgis Rally for four years. A gentle giant, David was one of the nicest guys you’d have ever met and was the first to have your back.

David is survived by his mother Martha Wolf of rural Bayard; three sisters: Kerry (Larry) Weston of Branson, MO; Karla Kaufman of Laguna Niguel, California; and Jennifer (Mike) Dahl of rural Bayard; four nephews: Daniel (Whitney) Weston, Joshua (Shannon) Weston, Christopher (Dustin) Weston and Shane Wolf; two nieces Melissa (Dustin) Reynolds; and Kala Kaufman; a great-nephew Evan Weston; great-nieces: Madyln Reynolds, Lydia Reynolds, Isla Weston and Sydney Mae Weston; Uncle Joe (Cynthia) Wolf of Creston and Maurice (Nuela) Watkins of Lancaster, CA; Aunts Christine Wolf of Coralville and Kathleen Cupp of Altoona; cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Wolf; grandparents: Earl and Wanda Wolf & Paul, Leona and Elva Watkins; and an aunt Elnora (Arlen) Zunkle; other relatives and friends.
