Gilbert Cuevas

Gilbert Jose Cuevas, 74, of Austin, Texas, passed away on November 12, 2020. Gil was born in Havana, Cuba to Ramon Gilberto and Margarita Feijoo Cuevas on December 27, 1945. Gil went to Coral Gables High School and graduated in 1963. He went on to earn degrees in mathematics from Tulane University and the University of Miami. He taught mathematics at the University of Miami School of Education for 31 years. He went on to teach for ten years in the mathematics department of Texas State University. He received multiple awards and recognitions throughout his professional career. Gil enjoyed travel, photography, and spending time with his family. He was an active member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Miami, Florida. Most recently, he was a member of All Saints Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas, where he was active in the ESL ministry. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy Dickinson Cuevas of Austin, Texas; his daughters Heather Cuevas and her husband Rob Gearhart, and Adrianna Cuevas Henderson, her husband Joe, and grandson Soren.
