re married on August 15, 1949 and bought a house on Detroit's east side. Through the years, she worked at iconic Detroit locations including the Bagley Theater and the J. L. Hudson department store, where she worked from 1962-1971. Long before there were casinos in Michigan, she enjoyed traveling to Canada with her sister to win big Bingo jackpots. She also loved Belle Isle and there were lots of family picnics, beach and zoo visits; and her family loved the picnic lunches she would make. First and foremost, she loved being a mom. As the years went by, she found her joy in the large family she and William had created. By the 1980s, they had moved to Warren where she enjoyed cooking southern favorites and hosting holidays for all six of her children and their families. She made sure every visitor was fed, comfortable, and made to feel like a part of the family. Beyond raising her children, Ann's nurturing spirit was displayed in other ways. Ann had a deeply abiding faith in the Baptist Community. She loved gardening and her roses were the envy of the neighborhood. She also loved cats; she had been known to feed strays, which led to Angel, Bugsy, and Honey Bear becoming part of the family. A memorable occasion was when the entire family traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. When Bill passed in 2006, they had been married for 56 years. In recent years she enjoyed the company of the staff and residents at her senior apartment complex. Ann enjoyed live entertainment and playing Bingo twice a week. She also never missed voting in an election and was happy to cast her last ballot in the 2020 presidential election. Ann was an avid fan of all things Elvis. She found great happiness traveling to both Memphis and Nashville, where she visited Graceland, the Grand Ole' Opery, and Sun Records where many of her favorite artists recorded. Her favorite memory was being able to see Elvis live in concert. She has always had a passion for music and was a self-taught pianist. Her musical roots were Country, but her interest spanned all genres; she instilled a love of music in her children. Music was more important than ever to her these past few months due to COVID quarantine restrictions, which did not allow her to leave her apartment. Ann was a very beloved mother and is survived by 5 of her children, Delores (Bob) Koepke, Linda (Chuck) Chrnalogar, William (Nancy) Burnett, Kimberly (David Pankotai) Burnett, and Kristi Montreuil. She was the cherished grandmother of Steve (Heidi) Billingsley, Scott (Shannan) Billingsley, Erin (Sandy) Korich, Tracy Chrnalogar, Chuck Chrnalogar, Celena (David) Marr, Corina Burnett, Bill (Kim) Burnett, Kevin Murray, Megan Gilbert, Rory Montreuil, Rachel Montreuil, Melissa (Mike) Wilson, Tiffany McKinney, Michael McKinney, Lacie (Jeff Potyk) Melasi, and Lizz Burnett. Ann was also a beloved great-grandmother of many great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William; parents Lou and William York; son Ronald (Vicki) Burnett; and was a caring sister to all fourteen of her siblings, including: Joe Hampton, Luther (Nelsie Mae) Hampton, Ella Mae (Frank) Caine, Leldon (Irene) York, John (Lucy) York, Ethel (George) Saunders, Lillian (Harry) Luker, Stella (Doyle) Walker, Sadie (Manley) Brown, Lorene (Kermit) Carter, Cleo (JW) Johnson, Leo York, Don (Clara) York, and Hansel (Nell) Black. Because of Ann's love of animals, the family is accepting donations for the Humane Society of Macomb. Donations may be mailed to the charity directly, written to The Humane Society of Macomb, address: 11350 22 Mile Rd., Utica, MI 48317.
