Robert Lawrence Smith

Robert Smith, 53, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, in Hollywood, Fla. He was born Feb. 23, 1967, in Grosse Pointe, to Raymond J. and Judith M. (nee Knack) Smith. A graduate of Grosse Pointe South High School, he attended Northern Michigan University and Wayne State University. Robert loved the outdoors. He worked in landscaping and enjoyed fishing, boating and playing hockey. Robert was the loving son of his parents, Ray and the late Judy; dear brother of Raymond E. Smith (Eileen), Bonnie Ireson, Susan Cook (John) and Meghan Beers (Derek); and cherished uncle of Raymond J., Matthew, Paul, Olivia, Brady, Cameron and Blake. Visitation will take place from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Chas. Verheyden Inc., 16300 Mack, Grosse Pointe Park, with a funeral Mass immediately following at 11 a.m. at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church, 1401 Whittier, Grosse Pointe Park.
