Betty Ruth Collins
Canton - Betty Ruth Collins, 94, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Loft in Canton with her Children at her side. She was born on December 6, 1926 in Fort Morgan, CO to George and Daisey Mae (Oren) Gilmore. She married Russell Collins on December 25, 1945 in Canton. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2011. Betty was also preceded in death by two sons, Denny and Kent Collins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jesse Gardner and Annabelle Ellis, four siblings which passed during the 1918 Flu epidemic. Surviving are her children, Lynn (Jeff McCoy) Collins-McCoy of Canton, Chris (Christine Boyd) Collins of Appleton, WI, fifteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She has left a void that will never be filled because there is no other love in the world like the love of a Mother. She was so much to so many. We were so blessed to have her and Dad as parents. They taught us many values, compassion for all people, but most of all love. She was "Mom", "Grandma" and "Friend" to so many, always wanting feed you. Always a little giggle for everything. and Dad were easy and fun to be with, but also our friends, even calling or stopping by on New Year (when WE were in bed) to wish us a Happy New Year. She was an accomplished seamstress tackling everything from hems to wedding dresses to upholstery. She also loved to dance and roller-skate. Betty's family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Betty's home care givers and all the care givers at the Loft in Canton. All of your care surpassed all of our expectations. Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside burial of the ashes will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 1 pm, at Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Country Line grill on West Locust in Canton.
