Milton Furst ILLINOIS CITY, Ill. - Milton Vance Furst, 86, of Illinois City, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Unity Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Loretta Thomas of the Illinois City United Methodist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bill Minard, Kirk Minard, Scott Minard, Bruce DeKeyrel, Andy Lee, David Furst and John VanDolah. Burial will be at the Illinois City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Illinois City Fire Department. Mr. Furst was born Dec. 15, 1913, in Illinois City, the son of John and Augusta Parchert Furst. He married Mary Ziegenhorn on Oct. 17, 1936, in Washington. He was a member of the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge, the Illinois City Conservation Club, and the Royal Neighbors of America. He worked as a foreman for the Illinois Highway Department, a foreman for the Rock Island County Highway Department, a maintenance engineer of the Illinois City Grade School for 14 years and a school bus driver. two sons, Gary Furst and his wife, Mitzi, of Washington, Ill. and Carroll Furst and his wife, Louann, of Illinois City; a daughter, Deloris Pape of Illinois City; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lola VanDolah of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Silvis J. Furst.
