George V. Lashinski, age 88, of Little Falls, MN, died Friday, January 22, 2016, at St. Ottos Care Center in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN, with Fr. Joseph Herzing officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28th and from 9:00 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29th all at Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus Council #1804 Office of the Dead at 7:00 p.m on Thursday at the funeral home. George Vincent Lashinski was born on July 10, 1927, in Swan River Township, Morrison County, Minnesota the son of Frank and Anna (Ringwelski) Lashinski. He grew up on the home farm in Swan River Township and attended Catholic school in Sobieski through the eighth grade. He farmed with his father on the home farm along with doing short-term jobs such as working at Camp Ripley and Threshing Bees in the Dakotas. in Elmdale, MN. The couple made their home for 38 years in Swan River Township (near Sobieski, MN) where he farmed until moving into Little Falls in 1989. After moving to town, George worked at the Pine Grove Zoo and the Morrison County Record delivering papers. He was a life member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, charter member of the Sobieski Lions, the Knights of Columbus and the National Farmers Organization. George enjoyed bringing joy to people playing Happy Birthday and You Are My Sunshine on his harmonica and playing his concertina or button accordion. He also enjoyed a good competitive card game of Smear, playing horseshoes, bowling, drives in the country looking at the crops, and trips to the casino. He loved life and made every day count. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and all children. Everywhere he went, he carried a bag of instruments for children to play with. George was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Anna; wife, Elizabeth Betty (Aug. 14, 2015); son-in-law, Ed Waltman; four brothers, Henry Hank, Leonard, Edward, and Lawrence Lashinski and two infant sisters, Joan and Alvina Lashinski.
