George Sturms MUSCATINE, Iowa à George M. Sturms, 95, of Muscatine, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Parrott of New Hope United Methodist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tom Sturms, Ken Sturms, David Salyer and Ian Sturms. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the community room at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home following the graveside service. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Organist will be Betty Lincoln. Memorials may be made to New Hope Methodist Church. Mr. Sturms was born on May 9, 1905, in Washington, the son of Anderson and Mary Ellen McCormick Sturms. He married Ann J. Stangl on Jan. 25, 1925, in Fairfield. He attended The New Hope United Methodist Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge. He worked at Huttig Manufacturing for 50 years before retiring. Survivors include two sons, Merle Sturms of Davenport and Kenneth Sturms of Muscatine; three grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Phelps of Muscatine. ...[more]
