Linda L. Hines

Linda L. Hines, age 77, of Quincy, died on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at 8:27 am in her home. Linda was born April 15, 1943 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Harold L. and Juanita Huner Berry. She was raised in Quincy and attended the Quincy Public Schools. Linda met John P. Hines in Chicago. They were married on June 10, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Linda had one child and John had five so they blended their family and had six wonderful children. Linda was a clinical psychologist and received her PhD from Northwestern University. She started Lakeside Psychology and Counseling Services in Chicago and had grown her practice to include a staff of 10 professional psychologists and psychiatrists. Linda missed Quincy and would visit as often as she could. For the last few years, Linda served as a consultant for psychiatric services at the Blessing Health System while also continuing her practice at Lakeside in Chicago. Linda loved helping people very busy with work and always on the go. One of her dearest friends, upon learning of Linda's death, said simply, "We lost our beautiful Linda". John made the decision to make Quincy their permanent home. Linda loved traveling across the globe. She especially loved to travel with her family. Family trips to their beach front home in Rincon, Puerto Rico were very special to Linda. Survivors in addition to her husband, John, include 6 children, Steven (P.J. Clark) Hines of Minneapolis, MN, Kathleen (John) Janninck of Joliet, IL, Karen (Robert) Larson of Elmwood Park, IL, Timothy (Sarah) Hermeling of Atlanta, GA, Daniel (Rebecca) Hines of Chicago, IL, and Kenneth Hines of Elmwood Park, IL; nine grandchildren, Samuel and Joseph Hines, Valerie and Kristen Larson, Alexander, Lauren and Meredith Hermeling, and Katie and Paige Hines; three great-grandchildren, Leighton Hines, and Michael and Oliver Pusvac; and a cousin, Ed (Linda) Berry. Linda was preceded in death by her parents. Services: 1:00 pm Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Please wear a mask if you plan to attend.
