Obituary of Elisabeth C. Laibach UPDATE: Graveside services and interment will be held in the family plot at St. John's Reformed Church Cemetery in Upper Red Hook on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 at 1 pm. Elisabeth C. Laibach, 85, a longtime Milan resident, passed away on Thursday, January 7th, 2021 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY. Born on January 10th, 1935 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ernestine (Beutelspacher) Lennartz. Elisabeth married Richard P. Laibach on December 20, 1952 in Queens, NY. He predeceased her on October 1, 2011. As a teen, Elisabeth loved roller skating and bowling with her friends and her future husband Richard. She loved to tap dance, play piano and sing. She enjoyed decorating cakes and won many cake-decorating competitions. For many years Elisabeth operated Das Apfel Haus, the famous apple fritter booth at the Dutchess County Fair. She was a longtime member of St. John's Reformed Church and sang in the choir. lisabeth loved cloud-watching, looking upward to find animals and other shapes in the sky. She believed we all have guardian angels watching over us. Despite her aversion to heights, Elisabeth was proud of her time as a secretary for the Roger Smith Corporation on the upper floors of the Empire State Building. For 25 years, until her retirement in 1999, Elisabeth worked as an aide and then guidance secretary for Red Hook Central School District in Red Hook, NY. She is survived by her loving children, Rick (Debra) Laibach of Red Hook, NY, Robert Laibach of Milford, CT, Paul Laibach of Red Hook, NY, and Lisa Laibach of Red Hook, NY; her grandchildren, Shane Laibach, Chris Bigley, Ilea Bigley, Lauren Laibach, Samantha (Michael) Tepper, Sabrina (Michael) Young; and great granddaughter, Isla Elizabeth Tepper; along with extended family and friends. Loving daughter-in-law, Michele Barry Laibach, predeceased her.
