Gaylord Holladay BETTENDORF, Iowa - Gaylord 'Doc' Holladay, 77, of Bettendorf died Friday, July 7, 2000, at the VA Hospital in Knoxville. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the National Cemetery in Rock Island Arsenal. Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Davenport. Mr. Holladay was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Muscatine County, the son of James P. and Rachael Brookhart Holladay. He married Florence Haller in Davenport. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1962 as a conductor for the C.B. amp; Q Railroad after 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 26 in Davenport, the Quad City Times Plus 60 Club and American Association of Retired Persons. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Florence; two daughters, Janet Loechel and her husband, Thomas, of Lutz, Fla. and Barbara Richardson and her husband, Stephen, of Northampton, Pa.; two sons, Thomas Holladay and his wife, Deborah, of Bettendorf and Richard Holladay and his wife, Yuko, of Albion, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
