Ruth Berryhill DAVENPORT, Iowa - Ruth Berryhill, 94, formerly of Buffalo, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine, following a brief illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Burial will be Thursday at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at The Runge Mortuary in Davenport and a half hour prior to service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church or the Buffalo Branch of Scott County Library. Mrs. Berryhill was born Jan. 21, 1906, in Franklin County, the daughter of William and Margaret Smith Bond. She married Irvin Berryhill in Buffalo Center on June 5, 1935. He died Dec. 26, 1994. She devoted her early married life to raising her family and working on the farm. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa where she lettered in basketball and was a member of the Women's Athletic Association. She taught in elementary schools in Buffalo, West Burlington, Davenport and Andalusia, Ill., retiring in 1971. n Buffalo, 500 Club and was a Lioness in the Blue Grass and Andalusia, Ill. Lions Clubs. She was a former county chairman of Winnebago County, 4-H and taught Sunday school for 50 years. Survivors include her children and spouses, Ruby McCullough and her husband, Harold, of Buffalo, David Berryhill and his wife, Sharon, of Gilbert, James Berryhill of Davenport and Esther Smith of Buffalo; grandchildren, William, Michael, Steven and Matthew McCullough, Jeff Berryhill, Amy, Erica, Diana and Shelley Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William Berryhill; a grandson, Scott Berryhill; and three brothers and a sister.
