Lyal Chamberlin MUSCATINE, Iowa - Lyal V. Chamberlin, 76, of 505 W. Fulliam Ave., died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, in Springfield, Mo., as a result of a car accident. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Schoepf of the Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tom Hammer, Steve Hammer, Brian Hammer, Mark Evans, Jeff Evans and Ed Chamberlin. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to VA Hospital in Iowa City. Mr. Chamberlin was born on April 9, 1924, in Wilton, the son of Vern and Nettie Leota Chasteen Chamberlin. He married Ruth E. Garmon on Aug. 21, 1945, in Muscatine. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II. He retired after 22 years with the Muscatine Fire Department. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 388 and was an avid camper. Survivors include one son, Albert Dean Chamberlin of Toolle, Utah; one daughter, L. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth in 1991; one daughter, Paulet; and one brother, Albert.
