Alberta Mae Gritton, daughter of Norman Levi and Etta Stella Ford Gritton, was born on April 7, 1920 in Cedar County, Iowa. She was a twin sister to her brother, Albert Ray Gritton. Alberta attended country school at the Hebron School in her elementary years and later attended Tipton School. Alberta met the love of her life, William Harlen Dugger, and the two of them were married on May 30, 1940 in the United Methodist Church in Tipton. Alberta was a waitress for the Tipton Country Club and The Cove. She loved being a homemaker, embroidery, playing cards, cooking and dancing. Alberta was a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church of Tipton, a member of the Tipton Senior Citizen Center and was a past Moose member for 35 years. Harlen and Alberta enjoyed their lives together. They lived for 5 years in New Mexico, 6 years in Camdenton, Missouri, but most of their life was home in Tipton. Alberta is survived by her three children, Vella Mae (Jerry) Simmermaker of Ames, Iowa, Linda Lea (Gary) Hein of Waseca, Minnesota, and son, James Harlen (Joyce) Dugger of Atalissa, Iowa; six grandchildren; and her sister, Gladys June King of Solon, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
