Elvera Brecht Valente Portsmouth, R. I. #45;- Elvera Nadine Brecht Valente, 76, of 10 Ruth Ave., Portsmouth, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass. Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 2836 E. Main Road, Portsmouth. Memorials may be made to Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Wagon Fund, P.O. Box 806, Portsmouth, 02871. Mrs. Valente was born on Dec. 31, 1924, in Marengo, the daughter of the Edward John and Etta Francie Wickham Brecht. She worked as a welder at the Naval Shipyard in California during World War II. She provided child care at her home for the past 30 years to many children. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Portsmouth. Survivors include five sons, Gerald P. Valente of Fall River, Mass., Paul V. Valente of Little Compton, R. I., Robert G. Valente of Warren, R.I., William R. Valente of Middletown, R.I., Bruce W.
