Duane P. ''Big Tires'' Schnoebelen

Duane Schnoebelen RIVERSIDE, Iowa #45;- Duane P. 'Big Tires' Schnoebelen, 47, of Riverside, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City of a sudden illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. The Rev. Mark Swanson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jay O'Rourke, Wayne Weimer, Greg Sojka, Randy Wade, Mike Knebel, Roger Cole, Bud Maas, Gary Ritchie and Kevin Klebe. Honorary pallbearers will be Kurt Schnoebelen, Kyle Schnoebelen, Kory Schnoebelen, Dan Schnoebelen, Brian Schnoebelen, Mike Schnoebelen, Doug Hoyle, Tim Hoyle, Andy Soukup, Justin Soukup, Travis Soukup, Joe Soukup, Tristan Schnoebelen and Thomas Schnoebelen. Burial will be at the St. Vincent Cemetery in rural Riverside. Following services at the cemetery, a luncheon will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday with a 4 p.m. rosary service and a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home in Riverside. . He married Cynthia Soukup on June 14, 1975, at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hills. He was a 1972 graduate of Highland High School. He worked for Muller Heating and Plumbing in Iowa City as a master plumber who did the estimating and bidding for the company. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ducks Unlimited, the National Turkey Federation, past member of the Riverside Fire Department and helped coach youth baseball for many years. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. Survivors include his mother, Martha Schnoebelen of Riverside; his wife, Cindi of Riverside; one son, Matt of Riverside; one daughter, Sara of Riverside; six brothers, Richard J. Schnoebelen and his wife, Janet, of Burlington, Donald L. Schnoebelen and his wife, Cindy, of Pella, Ronald Schnoebelen and wife, Beth, of Riverside, Kevin L. Schnoebelen and his wife, Kathleen, of Riverside, Philip J. Schnoebelen and his wife, Barbara, of Riverside and Marc E. Schnoebelen of Lone Tree; one sister, Jane M. Hoyle and her husband, Glen, of Ainsworth; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Betty Soukup of Riverside; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester in 1997.
