Andrea Struss-Kirchner IOWA CITY, Iowa - Dr. Andrea L. Struss-Kirchner, 56, of Iowa City chose to end her suffering on Sunday, April 29, 2001, at her home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. The Rev. Dee Lundberg will officiate. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the mental health organization of the donor's choice. Mrs. Struss-Kirchner was born Dec. 14, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Forrest and Dolores Supinger. She moved to Marshalltown at an early age with her family, graduating from Marshalltown High School as one of two valedictorians in 1963. She graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Zoological Science in 1968 and the University of Iowa Medical School in psychiatry in 1972. She practiced at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Chicago, Ill., Boone County Regional Hospital in Columbia, Mo., where she also taught and was chief of medicine. An avid sports person, she was a gifted basketball player before there was much interest in women's sports. She was a very caring and loving person. Survivors include her husband, Don Kirchner of Iowa City; two step-sons, Andrew and Tim Kirchner of Iowa City; her father, Forrest C. Supinger of Marshalltown; two sisters, Mary Beth Hurt Schrader and her husband, Paul, of Chappaqua, N.Y., Emily Sleichter and her husband, John, of Muscatine; and many family and friends.
