Darlene Shoemaker MUSCATINE, Iowa - Darlene Shoemaker, 73, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at Lutheran Homes. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Simpson of the Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be George "Doc" Blackwood, Harold Schmidt, Don Snavely, Jeff Fulcher, Jim Petersen, Seth Shoemaker and Chad Shoemaker. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Shoemaker was born on Sept. 5, 1927, in Muscatine, the daughter of Bernard and Stella Rose Emlet Middleton. She married Robert E. Shoemaker on July 27, 1946, in Muscatine. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, a 50-year member of the Women of the Moose; past member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, B.P.W.; Lady Elks and Women's International Bowling Congress. She was a life member of the Society of Iowa Florists. For 32 years she and her husband, Robert, owned and operated Kranz Florist, retiring in 1978. Jacobs and her husband, James, of Muscatine; two grandchildren, Seth and Chad Shoemaker; one brother, Robert Middleton and his wife, Jacque, of Winchester, Calf.; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Middleton of Lakewood, Calf. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one son-in-law.
