BERNICE ROBY MUSCATINE, Iowa - Bernice Irene Roby, 85, of Muscatine, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at Genesis Hospital - East Campus, Davenport, Iowa. Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Swanson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jeff Roby, Sean Conway, Duane Williams and Ben Peters. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 3003 Mulberry Avenue. Bernice was born on Oct 20, 1915, in Muscatine, the daughter of Peter and Cora Evelyn Smith Tiedemann. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School, Class of 1934. She married Dwayne G. Roby on Oct. 16, 1936, in Muscatine. She had worked at Ina Mae's, Nietzel's Drug Store and Evans Card Shop. She was a 50 plus member of the First Baptist Church, a 50 plus member of the Muscatine V.F.W. Auxiliary and also a member of the Women of the Moose. Bernice dearly loved her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Dwayne Roby of Muscatine; one son, Dave Roby and his wife, Dyann, of Muscatine; one daughter, Diane Havel and her husband, Bob, of Carlsbad, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Wendy Conway and her husband, Sean, of Muscatine, Jeff Roby and his wife, Jill, of Muscatine, Jennifer Peters and her husband, Ben, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Christy Williams and her husband, Duane, of Muscatine; and one great-granddaughter, Cassidy Conway, whom she dearly loved. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival in August of her second great-granddaughter, Destiny Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harold Tiedemann and one sister, Violet "Dolly" Hufford.
