Dr. Ernest Dunphy Jr. SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. #45;- Dr. Ernest Dunphy Jr., 65, of Snug Harbor in South Kingstown died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at his home. A Remembrance service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at his home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Galilee Mission, 268 Kingstown Road in Narragansett R.I. 02882 or VNS Home Health Services, 14 Woodruff Ave. Suite 7 in Narragansett. Dr. Dunphy was born in Providence, R.I., the son of Ernest 'Capt.' and Minna Glahn Dunphy. He married Joyce Woodhouse in 1963, at High Prairie Methodist Church in Muscatine. He graduated from South Kingstown High School in 1953. He attended Augustana College in Moline, Ill. and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport. He and his parents survived the 1938 hurricane on Clark's, now Quonsett, Point. He had been a commercial fisherman. He was a chiropractor in Wickford for more than 38 years. He was a member of the Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island and a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid fisherman and skier. He was a quartermaster in the U.S. Coast Guard. Survivors include his wife and a son, Mathew E. Dunphy of Snug Harbor. [more]
