Virginia Nelson WAPELLO, Iowa #45;- Virginia Marie Nelson, 73, of Wapello died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello. The Rev. Mary N. Pugh will officiate. Burial will be at the Wapello Cemetery. Visitation is 2-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will not have a specific visitation per her request. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Keck Memorial Library in Wapello for the purchase of books. Mrs. Nelson was born April 6, 1928, in Wapello, the daughter of C.W. and Sue Mann Askren. She married Richard Nelson June 5, 1949, in Wapello. She was a graduate of Wapello High School in 1946 and the University of Iowa in 1971 with a bachelor's of arts degree in Education. She taught sixth grade at Muscatine Community Schools for 17 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a former member of the Geneva Guild, a member of the Louisa County Retired School Personnel and the Muscatine Area Retired Teacher's Association.
