Donald Smith WASHINGTON, Iowa #45;- Donald L. 'Don' Smith, 75, of 2006 Highway 92 in Washington, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at his home following a lengthy illness. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at United Presbyterian Church in Washington. The Rev. Ron McMenamin will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in rural Washington County with Military Honors. Visitation is after 9 a.m. Tuesday, with family present 6-8 p.m., at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington. Memorials may be made to United Presbyterian Church or Washington County Hospice. Mr. Smith was born may 19, 1926, in Washington, the son of Marion W. and Florence Marie Baker Smith. He married Virginia Luers Aug. 11, 1946, in San Francisco, Calif. He graduated from West Chester High School in 1944. He farmed the family century farm. He was also a carpenter, electrician and craftsman. He and his wife owned and operated D amp; V Fabrics in Washington. He was a Singer sewing machine salesman and repaired all makes of sewing machines. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing and his family.
