John Monroe MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- John F. Monroe, 75, of Muscatine died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at Unity Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. E L. Dillard will officiate. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the combined units of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1545 and the American Legion Post No. 27. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Mr. Monroe was born on April 12, 1926, in Hannibal, Mo., the son of George and Daisy Harris Monroe. He married Velma L. Mallory on Oct. 4, 1947, in Hannibal. He worked for Bell Telephone Co. for 10 years, HJ Heinz for five years, was a TV repairman for 25 years and had retired from International Harvester in Rock Island. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific Theatre, 24 INF Division as a Infantryman and Radioman. Survivors include four sons, John F. Monroe Jr. of Bettendorf, Dennis L.
