Laura Elliott METROPOLIS, Ill. #45;- Laura May Elliott, 84, Metropolis, formerly of Buffalo Prairie, Ill., died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Massac County Hospital. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Buffalo Prairie Cemetery, Buffalo Prairie. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the church. Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church. Family Funeral Services, Milan, Ill., is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Elliott was born on May 12, 1917, in Illinois City, Ill., the daughter of Fred and Mary Reed Mewes. She married Elmo Elliott on Sept. 25, 1939, in Grandview. He preceded her in death March 1, 1982. She was a homemaker and helped farm in the Buffalo Prairie area. She was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church Women's Club and the Trinity Presbyterian Metropolis. She enjoyed her grandchildren and church activities. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Elliott of Metropolis; a son, Roger Elliott of Milan; five grandchildren, Adam, Travis and Lucas Elliott and Brent and KC Nelson; a sister, Lola Aull of Muscatine; and a sister-in-law, Karleen Mewes of South Carolina.
