Dwight Vredenburg CHARITON, Iowa - Dwight C. Vredenburg, 88, of Chariton, Iowa, died after stroke complications on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at the Lucas County Health Center. Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist with the Rev. Gary DeGeest officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Fielding Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed toward Northridge Living Center, Methodist Church and Rural Health Car Advantage Hospice. He was born on Jan. 17, 1914, in Lamoni, Iowa, to David and Kate Vredenburg. He married Ruth Taylor on April 25, 1937, in Missouri. He worked as CEO of Hy-Vee Food Stores Inc., Chariton for 51 years. He attended First United Methodist Church in Chariton. He was on the Chariton School Board, Graceland University Board, Indian Hills Community College Board of Directors, Aeolian singers, choir director RLDS and Methodist Church, rotary, Masons, Russell Town Band and he loved music. He also served in the Coast Guard during World War II.
