Lyle Gallaher MUSCATINE, Iowa #45;- Lyle Thomas Gallaher, 94, Muscatine, formerly of Vinton, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Bickford Cottage after a brief illness. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Vinton. The Rev. Rose Blank will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Gallaher was born on Oct. 2, 1907, in Jefferson, the son of J. Albert and Katharine Ball Gallaher. He married Clara Whipple on June 12, 1929, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She preceded him in death in 1996. His family to Boise, Idaho in 1912 and returned to Vinton in 1922. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Vinton, in 1926. He worked at the Vinton Post Office for 44 years, retiring as the assistant post master. He moved Bickford Cottage in 1999. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Vinton, and enjoyed sports, woodworking, stamp collecting and fishing. Survivors include two sons, Thomas L. Gallaher of Muscatine and David L.
