Frances Thomas MORNING SUN, Iowa #45;- Frances L. Thomas, 89, Morning Sun, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Presbyterian Church, Morning Sun. The Rev. H. Dick Reynolds will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Pamela Butler. Pallbearers are Tom Kemper, Mark Kemper, Tony Crawford, Terry Crawford, Mike Crawford, Heath Thomas, Troy Wilson, Brian McElhinney, Chris Thomas, Steve Simmons, Darick Wilson and Kerry Woodruff. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun. Visitation is after noon Tuesday, with family present 6-8 p.m., at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Morning Sun. A memorial has been established for First United Presbyterian Church and the Morning Sun Community Ambulance Service. Mrs. Thomas was born on Nov. 1, 1912, in Des Moines County, the daughter of James Edward and Susie Beth Paisley Wright. She married John Harold Thomas on Oct. 5, 1935, in Iowa City. terian Women and the Sorosis Club, all of Morning Sun. She had served on the Morning Sun School Board and had worked at various local grocery stores. She enjoyed music, gardening and flowers. Survivors include three sons, Jim, John and Dan, all of Morning Sun; four daughters, Shirley Kemper and Marie Wilson, both of Wapello, Celia McElhinney of Morning Sun and Peggy Sever of Vancouver, Wash.; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Jane Jones of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Linda; and a brother, Gay Wright.
