Jonathan Gettle COAL CITY, Ill. #45;- Jonathan 'Jon' Gettle, 14, Coal City, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Coal City. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Morris, Ill. The Revs. Tom Ostrander and Dr. Hal Green will officiate. Burial will be in Georgia. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the U.C. Davis and Sons Funeral Home Ltd., Morris. Memorials may be made to the Boys Scouts of America, Morris Methodist Church and the Coal City Middle School. Mr. Gettle was born on Feb. 21, 1988, in Marietta, Ga., the son of Michael and Catherine Anderson Gettle. He was an eighth grade student at Coal City Middle School. He was an accomplished trombone player and played in the marching band, jazz band, pep band and concert band. Last fall he earned student of the month and was honored by the school and the Coal City Currant. He was very active in Boy Scouts, belonging to Coal City Troop No. 466 holding Star Rank and earning 19 merit badges. He previously belonged to Troop No. 127 in Muscatine. Survivors include his parents of Coal City; a sister, Jennifer at home; maternal grandparents, James and Marjorie Anderson of Kingston Springs, Tenn.; paternal grandparents, Jesse and Olga Gettle of Dothan, Ala.; two uncles, Reggie Anderson and wife Karen of Kingston Springs and Tim Anderson and wife Karen of Huntsville, Ala.; and several cousins, other relatives and many friends.
