Betty Edwards SAN JOSE, Calif. #45;- Betty A. Edwards, 80, of Las Vegas, Nev. and part-time resident of Muscatine, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, in San Jose. Services are 1:30 p.m. Aug. 16 in the Chapel at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D. Family and friends are invited for cake, cookies and refreshments at the Old Stone House Bed and Breakfast, 1513 Jackson St., Sturgis, after the service. A memorial has been established for the Newell Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 568, Newell, SD 57760. The Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, is handling the arrangements. Mrs. Edwards was born on Jan. 31, 1922, in Newell, S.D., the daughter of Worthy W. and Helma Saukko Glover. She married Oscar A. 'Mickey' Edwards on April 5, 1943, in Newell. She grew up in the Vale area and graduated from Vale High School. She attended Black Hills Normal College, Spearfish, S.D. and taught country schools in Sully, Harding and Butte Counties. She and her husband lived in Newell, Lead, Gillette, Wyo. and Las Vegas during their married life. For the past three years she split her time living in San Jose and Muscatine. 50-year plus member of the Eastern Stars. She kept track of and corresponded with numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Her home in Las Vegas was always open to family and friends who were frequent visitors. Survivors include two sons, Mike Edwards and his wife, Delphia, of San Jose and Tim Edwards and his wife, Vera, of Muscatine; four grandsons, Tim and Matt Edwards, both of San Jose, Chris Edwards of New York City, N.Y. and Justin Edwards of Ljubljana, Slovenia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, a sister and a nephew.
