Ralph Stalder BUFFALO, Iowa #45;- Ralph L. Stalder, 84, Buffalo, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center - East Campus, Davenport. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Buffalo. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. rosary, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Stalder was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Davenport, the son of John and Zella Moore Stalder. He married Marie Mosier Aug. 30, 1941, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Buffalo. During World War II, he served for 4 1/2 years with the 802nd Army Aviation Engineers in the Aleutian Islands and the invasion of Okinawa. He was employed with Martin Marietta Corp., retiring in 1980 after 44 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Buffalo; member of the 802nd Aviation Engineers Association; charter member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Raymond V. ector of the Dewey Portland Credit Union, serving on its Board of Directors for 48 years; charter member of the Plus 60 Club; volunteer member of the Friendly Thrift Center Inc.; and volunteered at the Buffalo Food Pantry. He loved hunting, fishing, wood carving, gardening, his family and grandchildren and a multitude of friends. Survivors include his wife, Marie Stalder of Buffalo; sons, Ralph Stalder and his wife, Nancy, of Blue Grass, Ron Stalder and his wife, Sue, of Davenport and Rod Stalder and his wife, Deb, of Blue Grass; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Marie Figg. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Mosier; and brother, Jack Stalder.
