Russell Stewart Sr. ALBIA, Iowa #45;- Russell Stewart Sr., 85, Albia, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at his home. Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Winfield Funeral Home, Albia. The Rev. Brad Gray will officiate. Pallbearers are Ryan Stewart, Kent Johnson, Dennis Stewart, Cody Merrivel, Pete Eyheralde, Randy Jespersen, Jim Willetts and Michael Willetts. Burial will be at Oakview Cemetery, Albia. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Foundation. Mr. Stewart was born on June 15, 1917, in Buxton, the son of Ernest Ray and Jennie Plum Stewart. He married Alice Mae Cook on July 13,1939, in Unionville, Mo. She preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 1994. He had worked for Dain Manufacturing, Ottumwa, and for John Deere Ottumwa Works from which he retired. He had also worked as a mechanic for Roy Brooks Chrysler amp; Dodge Dealer, Albia. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Howard Cessna Post No. 136 American Legion, Albia, and the United Auto Workers Union Local No. 74, Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a sister, Mildred Gardner.
