GEORGE KOOK MUSCATINE, Iowa - George Bernhardt Kook, 90, of 1201 Lincoln Blvd., died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2002, at his home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Mathias Catholic Church, 215 West Second St. The Rev. John P. Gallagher will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tom McSwiggin, Jim McSwiggin, Joe McSwiggin, John McSwiggin, Dan Carlquist, and Pat Benda. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish. Mr. Kook was born on June 27, 1912, in Muscatine County, the son of Henry and Mary Nangle Kook. He married Dorothy Dunker on Nov. 9, 1973, in Wilton. Mr. Kook was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired as U.S. Postmaster from Wilton. He was a member of the St. Mathias Catholic Church in Muscatine and the American Legion Post #584 in Wilton. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
