Letha Selvig NORTHWOOD, Iowa #45;- Letha F. Selvig, 81, Northwood, formerly of Joy, Ill., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, Ill. Burial will be at Hamlet Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Mrs. Selvig was born May 22, 1921, in Joy, the daughter of Jesse James and Grace Poland Fifield. She married Ward 'Mickey' Michael Peters June 21, 1939, in Joy. He preceded her in death in 1960. She married Eugene Morrison in 1963 in Independence, Mo. He preceded her in death September 1988. She later married Russell Selvig April 23, 1992, in Independence. She graduated from Joy High School in 1939. She farmed with her first husband in Mercer County. She was an accountant for a farm implement dealership and a doctor's office and was a nurse's aid at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. After moving to Independence she was employed by the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. She owned and operated a motel in the Lake of the Ozarks with husband Eugene and was a Shaklee dealer. ...[more]

he loved music and singing and was known for singing as the 'Joy Sisters' on the weekly radio program in Muscatine. She sang in the 'Messiah' choir and a choir in Independence. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, fishing, cooking and her family. Survivors include her husband, Russell; three daughters, Bonnie Martin, Roberta L. DuBose and F. June Harvey; a son, William M. Peters; seven stepdaughters, Jeannie Lentz, Rosemary Fall and husband James, Rebecca Reyes and husband Joses, Margaret Selvig, Carol Vandell and husband Daniel, Betty Rogers and husband Harry and Shirley Cooper and husband Neil; five stepsons, Daniel Selvig and wife Dr. Dawn Stavish, Donald Selvig and wife Diane, Kenneth Selvig and wife Mary, Richard Selvig and Peter Selvig and wife Lynn; seven grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; a sister, Nola L. Nesbitt; a brother, Richard Jesse Fifield; several great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a son, Ward Donovan Peters; a brother, Clarence Leroy (Don Rey) Fifield; and a sister, LaVella Minteer.
