David Doty

David Rodgers Doty passed away on Friday, January 22nd, 2021 and made his way to heaven. David was born in Medford, Oregon, in 1947 to his parents Shirrell and Fredene Doty and was preceded in death by his younger brother, Thomas. David graduated from Medford High School, where he earned his Eagle Scout badge and played cornet in the school band. He entered the Air Force and served his country for six years, including time spent in Berlin, Germany. After returning stateside, David moved to Portland where he enjoyed spending time outdoors, attending church, and playing many rounds of cribbage and other games with his parents and friends. David made his way to Texas about thirteen years ago, where he enjoyed his time at his church, Hays Hills Baptist Church of Buda. In Texas, David found better VA benefits, a new career, and he made many new friends. He really enjoyed singing and being part of the music program at his church. He also enjoyed people of all walks of life. When we went to his apartment, the neighbors came out and talked about him and even the maintenance man said, "Papa, muy bueno!" while signaling that David always waved hello to everyone. David is survived by his two children, Marie Cole and her spouse, Scott Cole, and Freddy Doty and his spouse, Danielle Doty as well as two grandchildren, Renee Baran and Emma Cole. A memorial for David will be held on Saturday, January 30, at 2 PM at the Memorial Prayer Garden at Hays Hills Baptist Church.
