Barbara Holmquist WAPELLO, Iowa #45;- Barbara Helen Holmquist, 83, Wapello, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center, Wapello. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. The Rev. Mary N. Pugh will officiate. Burial will be at the Wapello Cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, with family present 6-7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established to benefit the Wapello Rescue Unit. Mrs. Holmquist was born on Sept. 23, 1919, in rural Morning Sun, the daughter of Ray and Isa Curran Barrick. She married Raymond William Holmquist on Sept. 17, 1938. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1973. She graduated from Wapello High School. For many years she was a member of the Wapello Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She owned and operated her restaurant and tap in Wapello for 31 years. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Hall of Aurora, Colo.; three grandsons, Steve Hall and wife Stacy of Tucson, Ariz., Brian Hall and wife Kris of Mesa, Ariz. and Dan Hall and wife Stephanie of Tiffin; six great-grandchildren, Nick, Nathan, Isaac, Ryan, Kelsey and Megan; a brother, Fred Barrick an...[more]
